How to Adopt an AZUR
Rat
Azure
Ridge Rattery always has first pick out of any of it's litters
to preserve breeding lines. This will help us improve on the fancy
rat as a whole.
Any
breeders that I trust and know will get second pick, as they are
also working towards improving the fancy rat as a whole. As of
now approved breeders are COVE, R2R, SGR, BZC and DT.
First and foremost
you must fill out an Adoption
Application. Filling out this form does not automatically
mean you are approved to adopt. It is an application to see if
you are ready for the resonsibility of rat ownership.
If you are
a breeder, you must fill out the Adoption
Application and the Breeders
Application. All breeders applications are taken into consideration
to be on our approved breeders list.
In
order for us to put you on the approved adoption list for a
baby, we must have theAdoption
Application and you must then be approved to adopt.
Just emailing and
talking to us without filling out an application does not put
you on the approved adoption list.
We will contact
you within 48-72 hours after receiving your adoption application.
If we do not contact you within that time frame, then please
email us and inquire.
Being
on the approved adoption list means you are approved to adopt
but, may not be able to adopt from the current litter. I will
contact you via email to notify you of the babies available
to you, when they are 3 weeks of age.
I do take all your requests for the type of baby you want into
consideration and I try my best to select those babies for you.
Babies
are available for pet reservation at three weeks of age. The
date of this will be posted on the babies pages. AZUR reserves
the right to change the reservation date of any litter. A litter
under 3 weeks without any babies Reserved, does not mean that
they are available.
Babies will be ready
for their new homes at 6 weeks of age. No exceptions!
No rats will leave
our home over 3 months of age. Due to the stress of rehoming
at this age.
All rats are adopted
out in same sex pairs. If you already have rats at home, then
you will only be adopted rats of that sex, unless they are altered.
We
do not breed or sell rats for feeders. We will never sell our
rats to pet stores or laboratories.
We
do not ship our rats. No exceptions!
Our
rats are hand bred and hand raised as loving family pets. I
am with them during mating and with my moms while they give
birth. Babies are handled within minutes of being born.

you to care properly for your new family members.
You are probably wondering why all my litters are marked Pet
Only. These lines are new to me. I need to get to know the lines,
watch them closely, and establish them as my own before I offer
them on breeding contracts. I think that it would be irresponsible
of me to let these lines be bred by another breeder, which would
obviously be outcrossed and then the litters would be adopted
by another breeder to be bred again. If I were to allow this
to happen right now and a problem cropped up in the lines, I
would have no idea which line the problem is from. So, with
me only adopting as pets at this point, I can carefully watch
and record things that go on with them. Eventually, I will adopt
on breeding contracts when I have the lines established as my
own and I am comfortable to let them be bred by others. Thank

What
do you do once you have a baby Pending Reservation...
Babies
are $25 each or $50 for a pair. **Prices can change at any time!**
These prices are set to help with the care of our rats. This
fee by no means covers all of our costs of our rattery.
We
will email you when the Pending Reservation lists
are up.
When
you look on the litter page, you will see Pending Reservation
and your name next to the babies that you are adopting.
You
will have 10 days from the date of the Pending Reservation to
send us half of the non-refundable adoption fee.
You
can either mail your non-refundable adoption fee or you can
send it via Paypal. We will send you all necessary information
to make proper payment with your pending reservation email.
After
we receive half your adoption fee, we will send you a receipt
via email. We will also place reserved and your name next to
your babies on the litter page.
When
the reservations are finalized, we will arrange with you a date
for your new family members to go home. Remember, the babies
are not ready for your home until they are 6 weeks of age.
Transportation
is available, but there will be a gas charge and we will not
travel more than 1 hour to get your babies to you. Some exceptions
apply, depending on the individual who is adopting.
